Book Marketing Buzz Blog - Interview With Author Arielle Spring

1. Why did you write this book?

As inspiration to other women who have suffered or are currently suffering from trauma, abuse and post traumatic stress disorder and complex post traumatic stress disorder.

2. What is it about and who is it really for?

My memoir vividly details for over 20 year descent into darkness to the point where the reader feels like they are there with me. There's a moment in the book where I have a reckoning with God and myself. I then detail my ascent to find my true self, hope and wholeness. I wrote this book for myself but also for others who have suffered trauma and abuse with the message to never give up.

3. What do you hope readers will get out of reading your book?

That they will learn how vitally important it is to go within themselves to find healing and success.

4. How did you decide on your book’s title and cover design?

My book's title was inspired by a visit from my parents after we had been estranged where my Father told me that at every Spring, when he heard the birds singing, he would pray to God that I would be OK.

5. What advice or words of wisdom do you have for fellow writers?

Write from your heart and have the willingness to let the reader experience your vulnerability.

6. What trends in the book world do you see -- and where do you think the book publishing industry is heading?

It's heading in the direction of self-publishing. I think that more and more books will start off that way.

7. Were there experiences in your personal life or career that came in handy when writing this book?

I was inspired to write a book when graduating from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.

8. How would you describe your writing style? Which writers or books is your writing similar to?

My writing style is conversational. Jeannette Walls, whose book, The Glass Castle, which has been on the New York Times best seller list for eight years, writes in this style.

9. What challenges did you overcome in the writing of this book?

There were numerous challenges - the biggest one being shame.

10. If people can buy or read one book this week or month, why should it be yours?

They will want to choose When Birds Sing - My Journey from Trauma to Triumph to read this month for their soul's evolution!
